What are Console Idols?

In the early 80s, Nintendo was achieving massive success as an arcade game manufacturer. At the same time, idol singers in Japan were enormously popular. This gave Nintendo the idea to start up an idol production branch in parallel to their video game business. This was the start of the worldwide phenomenon known as Console Idols!

Console idols are known to have been popularized, but not necessarily started, by Nintendo. This site focuses all on Nintendo's idols, who they are, what they did, and all sorts of publicly available information for fans to peruse. While other game companies started producing idols in the same vein, this site does not cover them.

Console idols were primarily only popular in Japan and among seasoned game enthusiasts, but more recently they have spread to all corners of the world. English speaking fans of idols might find it difficult to find a lot of information on them, especially for older Nintendo systems. Hopefully this site provides a comprehensive look at each of these idols' history!

Whether you are a longtime fan or just want to see what the fuss is about, have fun learning all about the different idols!
